Following the successful completion of the Protocol 26 upgrade on Pi Mainnet, Pi Testnet is upgrading to Protocol 27!

Protocol 27 introduces more flexible and secure smart contract authentication capabilities, enabling more advanced ways for accounts and applications to authorize transactions. The upgrade continues Pi’s broader work to incorporate newer protocol features and expand the network’s smart contract capabilities.

The target date for the Mainnet upgrade to 27 is September 15, 2026.

Now, I remember vividly the legendary Dimas Nawawi, the man who interpreted Mr. Kosasih codes wrote in detail how PayPal and Amazon will be the first two companies to integrate Pi Payments button feature in their payment infrastructure.

😃🤜 I just checked the Testnet API and noticed an interesting change:

💥 Horizon: pi-horizon-27.0.0
💥 Core: v27.1.0

Meanwhile, Mainnet still retains the old naming convention:

👉 Horizon: 26.0.0
👉 Core: stellar-core 26.1.0

The word "Stellar" is gone.

I don't think this change is random.

✨ The Core Team's proactive switch to "pi-horizon" sends a clear signal: they want to assert that Pi is evolving into a blockchain with its own distinct identity, no longer relying on the Stellar brand image as it once did.

🔥 This "Pi-fication" of the core software's name is particularly significant given that Protocol 27 is considered the final upgrade in the current series.

🔴 **Important Update After Reactivating the Main Blockchain Ledger**

After the opening of the Open Mainnet and the full reactivation of the blockchain ledger, we are now clearly seeing a new phenomenon in the Pi Blockexplorer:

Operations appear like this:

**Pay 150 π to MDFN...52WO (a sub-address of GDFN...WJ75)**

This is not a regular address.

This is a **Muxed Account** (multiplexed account / sub-address) according to the official Stellar standards:
- CAP-27
- SEP-23

### What does this exactly mean?

An address starting with **M** is a sub-address linked to a single main account starting with **G**.

In the example above:
- The real account on the blockchain = `GDFN...WJ75` (currently holding more than 161 million π)
- The sub-address = `MDFN...52WO` with a specific ID (3293460311)

The funds actually enter the main account, but the platform or exchange knows exactly which user sent them thanks to the sub-ID embedded inside the address itself.

### The most important part now: Recording the source of the coins

After the activation of the Mainnet and smart contracts, the system now records and tracks the **source of the coins** more clearly:

- Coins that pass through Muxed addresses (M...) are generally classified as coming from **exchanges or platforms**.
- Coins coming directly from Pioneers’ accounts after migration and mining are classified as **mined coins (Mined by Pioneers)**.

The Core Team can now accurately distinguish between:
- Original mining coins (Contribution)
- Exchange coins (Exchange / Circulating)

This appears in the blockchain records and the explorer, especially with the use of sub-addresses, helping preserve mining integrity and the Lockup system.

The result:
- Any transfer to an address starting with **M** is officially recorded in the explorer as a **“sub-address of ...”** and usually indicates an exchange or platform source.
- Tracking the origin of coins (mined vs exchange) has become more transparent and accurate than ever before.

This confirms that the Mainnet is operating at full capacity, and that the infrastructure of exchanges and platforms is now active and fully compatible with the highest Stellar standards.
