"Retired" in '19 after 30 years as Northwestern State SID; @LaSportsHall chairman since '90; mermaid researcher; sunset chaser; Steelers, Saints, Pirates, golf
Very classy @tonydokoupil for the story on Scott Pelley and the work he did for @CBS and @60Minutes. He is a major loss like Sharon Alfonsi and Cecilia Vega and the others. Their firing was wrong.
@CBSNews
Struck by lightning, revived and finished the game and then throws a no-hitter 17 days later ?!?
They don't make 'em like Ray Caldwell anymore.

When @ScottPelley signed off from @CBSEveningNews, he spoke about Freedom of the Press. My first years in broadcast journalism were at a CBS affiliate while he anchored the Evening News. He was excellent then as he is now, fighting for @60Minutes.
Treasure watching him bond with fellow 2001 @LaSportsHall inductees Chick Childress & Charlie Brown, great HS football coaches, and women's basketball great Lin Gamble, a HS teacher. Just such a charming, sincere guy with no ego. @MikeDetillier knew Sam much better and is spot on
Sam Mills-he would have turned 67 years old today..
Sam Mills was a Hall of Fame football player and a Hall of Fame man in life.
He was just a great leader and he carried himself with tremendous dignity and class.
What an impact Mills made on the football field and in life.

Today we highlight a native of Ruston, LA, first-team All-American, BCS National Champion, and six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kyle Williams (’02-’05).
After a 13-year career as the heart and soul of the Buffalo Bills defense, the former Tiger legend returned home to pursue a coaching.
The last pitch Bob Gibson ever threw was hit for a Grand Slam by Pete LaCock. A decade late there was an Old Timers game at Wrigley Field and LaCock stepped up to the plate and Gibson hit him
@DavidMarts13@ForkEMPodcast "Hasn't affected yet" -- sadly untrue. Sure, the regionals were fun but can you tell us who is coming back on your team's roster next year? And
for the good but not great high school players, opportunity isn't nearly what it was a few years ago.
... And this just happened. If only it said, hey, Congress, thanks but we are finally going to handle our own business. Maybe it does, just a little. TBD.

Great coverage at last Thursday's exhibit opening and since on @KSLASports from the sportscaster who must not sleep, @ChrisDemirdjian -- the Cannon exhibit is at your museum until next April, and Dr. Cannon's 1959 @HeismanTrophy -- the only silver one -- is in house until August
Exhibit on football legend, Billy Cannon, at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame shares game artifacts and lessons on redemption -- https://t.co/B0tAux0fXU @LaSportsHall@SIDDougIreland@LSUfootball
Bill Cowher shares the 3 things he told his 3 daughters - and his 53 players.
"Number one - choices and consequences."
"You can control your choice. But once you make a choice, it controls you...Just understand - with every decision you make, there's a consequence that goes with that."
Your choices and actions matter.
"Number two - it's about the people you surround yourself with."
"Are they people that are purpose-driven? Or are they people that are just trying to feed off of who you are?"
"I want people around me that are purpose-driven. People focused on doing something impactful and meaningful."
"And the third thing - nothing good happens after midnight. Nothing."
Three rules. A lifetime of wisdom.
Your choices control you. Your circle defines you. Your habits protect you.

Some classic Chevy Chase lines from Fletch, which is 41 today.
Under the laughs, it’s a tight, well-built detective story: drug trafficking, murder-for-hire, and a film-noir backbone; just brighter, with punchy one-liners.
Might rent it tonight. I’ll charge it to the Underhills.
The Walk-Off Turns 30 on June 8. Come meet Warren Morris, who'll be signing copies of my book, "Everything Matters In Baseball: The Skip Bertman Story," Saturday, June 13 (Noon to 2 p.m.), at Spirits Food & Friends.
Remember that school record that Rushana broke last time around?
Well, Rushana broke it again, as she clinches a spot in Oregon with a time of 50.81!
