The Grammys appear to be rethinking the new award for Asian pop just weeks after BTS announced they would not submit their music for the 2027 awards.
“It’s clear from our numerous conversations with many stakeholders over the past two weeks that, regardless of our intent and desire to be even more inclusive, there are some artists in this space who feel that this category isn’t representing the music they work so hard to create, in the way they wish... The management and Board are committed to working together to keep pace with that progress and ensure the musicians we intend to honor feel truly seen and heard by our actions,” Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said in a statement.
Sources tell Variety that Mason and other Grammy executives have been in discussion with artists and execs representing K-pop, J-pop, C-pop, India and more. The Academy is convening its full Board and Awards & Nominations Committee to work with members of and leaders from this community to seek further advice on the category, as well as its process for introducing new categories and awards.

The way Jungkook and Taehyung opened up to ARMY about their health, like they were talking to family. 🥹❤️🩹
🐰: As for my shin, i’m right on the verge of developing a stress fracture. even today, all i wanted was to keep running and jumping, but it hurt so much at times that i couldn’t keep jumping… So i hope you can understand that part. i want to get better quickly, but because i keep having concerts, i can’t really heal
🐰: it’s not a fracture, but it seems like there’s a lot of inflammation
🐻: I’ve never told ARMYs this before, but it’s been about two and a half years, I think. My hearing started getting worse
🐰: But you went to the hospital recently and had it treated, right? Did it get better, or does it go back to how it was?
🐻: Yeah. Maybe after a month? Like, if I can hear 100 over here, I can only hear about 30 over here
🐰: You really need to take good care of it.”
🐻: So I’ve been taking my medication consistently
🐻: Actually, when it got worse during my military service, everyone there was really into working out, so they’d say things like, ‘It’s all about mental strength.’ I ended up kind of convincing myself that it was a mental-strength issue…
🐰: No, don’t think like that
🐻: I’ve been going to the hospital regularly.
I hope they get plenty of rest and get well soon. 🥹
