**To Our Stand in the Gap Community**

One of the hardest parts of the work we do is knowing that we can't always say "yes."

Every request we receive represents a real person, a real family, and a real need. Many have lost jobs, homes, businesses, or are still carrying overwhelming legal and financial burdens.

The truth is, our mission has never been limited by compassion, it has been limited by resources.

Stand in the Gap is a nonprofit organization funded by the generosity of people who believe in helping others rebuild. We don't have unlimited funding, and unfortunately that means there are times when the number of requests exceeds what we're able to provide.

When that happens, it doesn't mean someone isn't deserving of help. It means we're forced to make incredibly difficult decisions with the resources available at that moment.

We know how painful it is to ask for help. Many of us have been in that position ourselves. That's why we never take those requests lightly.

Our commitment remains the same:

* To serve with integrity.
* To steward every donation responsibly.
* To help as many individuals and families as we possibly can.
* And to continue growing so that fewer people hear the word "no" in the future.

This week, our community lost one of our own. Nicholas Languerand was a January 6th patriot who came home from federal custody carrying more than most people will ever understand. Like so many of the men and women Stand in the Gap Foundation exists to serve, Nick fought battles after his release that were harder, in many ways, than the ones that put him behind bars.

We started this Foundation because reentry doesn’t end when the prison door opens. The isolation, the weight of what you’ve seen and carried, the struggle to find your footing in a world that moved on without you — that’s a fight that can go on for years. Nick’s death is a painful reminder of how real that fight is, and how many of our brothers and sisters are still in it right now, often in silence.

We are heartbroken for his family, and we are grateful for the time we had with him. His story matters, and it will not be forgotten.

If you are a J6 defendant or a formerly incarcerated person reading this and you are struggling, please reach out. To us, to someone in your circle, to anyone. If you notice someone going quiet or pulling away, be the one who checks on them twice. And if you are in crisis right now, please call or text 988. You matter, and you are not alone.
