Worth clocking who actually ends up paying more under this. Right now the first Β£500k of an estate is tax-free, near a million for a couple with a home, so only the biggest estates ever get near the 40%.
Go to a flat 10% on everything and the Β£400k family home picks up a bill it never had, while a Β£5m estate drops from roughly 40% to 10%. The headline rate looks lower but its ordinary families carrying more of it.
