We’re the Social Justice League of Silver Pines PS in YRDSB. With teacher advisors, we embed the SDGs in our leadership work, we run assemblies and initiatives.
This is something I think we are all grappling with. Looking forward to hearing the students weigh in. I will tweet out my class’s answers along with @SJLSPPS, for sure.
Check out our next @GlobalEdSsChat Tweet & Talk topic on March 10th at 1 pm ET. Use our panel discussion for your own springboard into class conversations about self-awareness & identity. DM me if your students would like to be guests on panel. #GlobalEdSschat#ycdsb21c#onted

A1: How much of our opinions and feelings about homework are based on comfort of what we are used to and how much is based on research and tangible increases in learning? #GlobalEdSsChat#DoYourHomework#DitchHW
A1-Depends if it busy work or meaningful work.Liked flipped class where can get an idea of what's going on so you can do the work with support of peers and teachers. Also should be quality work not quantity. Think more for formative assessment too.Can be useful. #GlobalEdSsChat
Healthy active kids who are regulated and who have tools to manage stress need time to develop and enact those tools. We are at school for a long time, so after school time should be time to play and be active, leading to overall health and well-being. #GlobalEdSsChat#health
Joseph made a good point about homework helping to prepare you for success in life. We feel that not all homework was created equally. #homework#GlobalEdSsChat
It really depends on the work and the teacher. Those who are understanding always support students overall health over daily work. However, when teachers don’t coordinate and all pile homework on, rest and sanity become the most important #GlobalEdSsChat
@SJLSPPS What about the need for rest and play? Law of diminishing returns, your brain needs a break. Does spending more time result in more learning or fatigue? #GlobalEdSsChat#DoYourHomework#DitchHW
Our shared answer is that homework is important, and continuing to work at home to give Ss the time they need to think and learn deeply is great, but it should be set up to promote learning not to create stress and more work #GlobalEdSsChat
We will use the Q1/A1 format for this chat. Be sure to include the hashtag #GlobalEdSsChat in your tweets so others here can see what you have to share.
