Email from OOSH today. We are increasing our fees online with the increased benefits due to the cost of living and award wage rises

Today I learnt that the Christmas Carol ‘Silent Night’ is actually written about the aftermath of a volcanic eruption that caused a climatic shift. I can’t stop thinking about it.

This is where Geography, Science, History and even Music go cross curricula.

@BeckRSaunders @Flynn_Trinquet I have tried doing this but they don’t write anything. Maybe adding 2 marks would work. Is the theory 1 mark if they outline anything and 2 if they delve deeper?

I’m currently reading a children’s book written in 1971. I started reading it to my son, but had to keep changing what I was saying as the language is not how we speak anymore.

The story is wonderful still, but the language has not aged well.

@heymrsbond Take the class on a mindful walk around the school, you could give them a task such as asking them to identify any flora and fauna they see and see if they know if any of it is native. Or just ask them to be silent and observe their surroundings, look up, down and to the side

Me: oh, so does that mean I’m a nerd?

@GoGeocaching I use my phone on record all the time. Record where I think it is then review the footage. It helps during Australian summers as the last thing I want to do is put my fingers on something that might bite me (I did see a spider next to a cache once, I came back the next day)

This is my yearly Valentine’s Day post.

If you usually get roses can I suggest you request native blooms. Our native flora and fauna needs a boost, so hopefully when you chuck the flowers in the bin or compost them, more natives will grow thus supporting our ecosystem.

@GiftedTawk Last year I started wearing the calmer brand ear buds. It’s been a game changer for me in the classroom. So much of the background sound is gone. I’ve also gone out and bought some quiet fidget toys to randomly give out to students that need to refocus energy elsewhere.

I’ve just introduced my kiddos to Phineas and Ferb. They are loving it.
