Today the @mercnews published a story about our new @knightfdn fellowship, which will give our @SJSU journalism students the chance to work together with the Merc and @SJSpotlight. It was a long time in the making, so it's exciting to finally see it announced to the public.

So this is official now. After many months of work, we at the @SpartanDaily have successfully started a @knightfdn-funded fellowship program in conjunction with @SJSpotlight and @mercnews.
This is a small step toward getting the Spartan Daily back to sustainable funding levels, and to better addressing the needs of underserved communities in and around San Jose.

A quick reminder: We're in the middle of the university's fundraising push to get matching gifts for donations to the @SpartanDaily and our other student media. It's running Tuesday and Wednesday (April 20-21).
If you're interested in donating or advocating for us, please go here for details:

Next Tuesday and Wednesday @SJSU will be holding 1857 Minutes of Giving, a crowdfunding project where donations are matched. The @SpartanDaily and our other student media outlets are participating in this because we still receive no direct funding from the university.
We need donors, but it would also help to have advocates -- alums & others who spread the word about the campaign and the need to support our efforts.
If you're interested in helping out, either as a donor or an advocate, please let me know. I can provide links to all of this as the full launch date draws near.

@DonOrsillo You need to get Snellzilla on for an interview from the Giants dugout this weekend! Apparently he still loves the Padres staff enough to throw a pizza party for them, even though he's now a Giant.
