Also the Doctor not knowing that Omega had survived, despite having met him twice, then discussing their previous meeting.

@TheJamieForever @GasbotW @WilliamWhoDW So there's a reasonable solution that the Fugitive Doctor's stuck TARDIS was sent for repair, temporarily fixed, then she stole her amnesic timelord back traveled the universe again until the circuit broke again and she got her preferred shape back.

@TheJamieForever @GasbotW @WilliamWhoDW The sixth doctor does a temporary repair that allows almost as many changes as Susan says it had achieved after they left Gallifrey. It then returns back to its preferred Police Box shape.

@4utumnHarvest @tim42nz @DrWhoMoment So yes there's reasonable allowance that it was a Police Box pre-Hartnell but due to a temporary repair it appeared to be a normal working one between the theft (at which time we know the circuit was completely off) until the events of An Unearthly Child

@TheJamieForever @GasbotW @WilliamWhoDW Police Box TARDIS can exist pre 1st in canon. Chesterton notices it's out of place in the Junkyard, something Doctor and Susan failed to realise. He unknowingly stole his own TARDIS whose temporary repair made it seem to work until it returned to its stuck shape.
