Today's pollution levels were particularly high in Pune.
So decided to do this experiment and post on my instagram.
None. I mean none of the mainstream politicians have talked about this issue for the upcoming civic elections. Shame.
The Rise of Middle-Class Vote Bank: It is the fastest growing demographic in Indian cities. With the rise of gated communities and townships - its political power will keep rising.
Air quality has worsened in parts of Pune and PCMC, prompting the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to issue an alert. The board has asked civic bodies and the RTO to strengthen pollution-control measures.
Areas like Bavdhan and Wagholi are seeing higher dust and vehicle emissions, which can impact public health. Authorities have been directed to control road dust, monitor construction activity, and reduce vehicular pollution. Citizens are advised to limit outdoor exposure and follow safety precautions until air quality improves.

@pcmcindiagovin@mpcb_official this is really happening, people are leaving city area to live in pollution free area and this is what you are treating them, @PCcityPolice the heavy vehicle movement is continuing in barrer window and you are doing nothing about it
This is how construction sites should operate:
1. Tires are cleaned before entering public roads.
2. The truck is fully covered to ensure that construction waste and mud don’t spill onto the streets.
Why can’t we enforce it? What’s stopping us?
Public money is people’s tax money, not a VIP Decoration Fund.
Cleanliness appears for foreign guests and big leaders, then vanishes the moment cameras leave.
For the rest of the year, citizens are expected to live in filth. This is harsh truth.
Vehicles need mandatory pollution checks… so why not construction sites?
The amount of dust pouring out of urban construction sites is insane, impacting air quality, public health, and daily life.
Add to that loose soil spilling onto nearby roads, damaging surfaces.
Time to make dust & pollution compliance mandatory for construction sites too.
Firstly, the Govt. of Maharashtra needs to explain, why a Builder is holding the Chairman's post in the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. We also need to know, if MPCB’s over 1,100 vacant positions (despite a Bombay High Court order a year ago) have been filled.
Lucknow jumped from Rank 41 to 3 in India’s cleanest cities list and the credit goes to one man and a mission.
Meet IAS Indrajeet Singh, the Municipal Commissioner who turned garbage hills into green parks and waste into fuel.
Watch how Lucknow cleaned up its act one electric vehicle, one tree, one citizen at a time.
