Celebrating Academic Brilliance!

In a remarkable display of academic achievement, three Gambian lawyers have graduated from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights in Switzerland.

Abdou A Manneh, a staff member of the National Human Rights Commission and formerly as Director of Research and Investigation at the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation commission (TRRC) graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Master of Advanced Studies in Transitional Justice, Human Rights and the Rule of Law.

Ousman E. Sanneh, who currently serves as an Officer Commanding Prosecutions at the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, also earned a Master's in Transitional Justice.

Isatou Sam also graduated with a Master's in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights. These accomplishments highlight their dedication to advancing expertise in crucial areas of law and human rights.

Meet Justice Sarjo Barrow, who became the first Gambian immigrant appointed Federal Immigration Judge in the United States.

Justice Barrow officially assumed his new role following his appointment by the United States Department of Justice a few weeks ago.

He was appointed a federal immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2024 with 18 other new immigration Judges and two new appellate judges.

We wish Justice Barrow a successful tenure in office!
