Back from La Palma and it has left me with a bitter taste. An island the size and population of Môn completely dark sky compliant, with thriving wildlife and beautiful flora left to wrap its tendrils around every inch of this paradise. U.K. could be doing so much more 💔
I’ve had an ‘interesting’ 5am-7pm shoot battling against 50mph+ winds on the Isle most Holy today. I reckon 90% of images will need to be binned. Not quite sure how but I think that one sunset capture on a 600mm lens might just have worked! :)
Honoring a Trailblazer🌟
This week, a plaque on the South West tower of the Tyne Bridge was installed to commemorate Dorothy Buchanan, a true pioneer!
A key member of the Tyne bridge's design team and the first female member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
Women giving up their access to leisure and sport because we can’t keep them safe as a society after dark. It should be a national shame. Bea will be one of tens of thousands of women making these decisions right now.
We have the right to access the night and keep alive. Women everywhere should not be subject to this curfew yet every time evening falls we are. It’s unjust. It’s unfair and it’s time to change.
It’s not women’s responsibility to keep themselves safe at night.
It’s the responsibility of men not to attack us.
As the clocks go back Sunday, half the population will be subjected to a curfew as women are told to stay indoors at night. This is a total injustice.
We need to stop asking women how we make them ‘feel’ safe in the dark. ‘Feeling safe’ and actually being safe are two very different things.
You could stick a street light on my head and it ain’t keeping me safe if a man wants to hurt me.
This conversation needs to change.
No, @ThisGirlCanUK Darkness isn’t dangerous to women.
It’s violent men who use the night to aid their crime
Stop blaming darkness when we mean dangerous men.
