The tents set up for the 77 year anniversary of the Nakba in Manchester city centre, when Israel was created through a pre-planned ethnic cleansing of Palestine. 79% of Palestine was stolen, 750,000 Palestinians were ethnically cleansed, 531 villages destroyed and 11 urban neighbourhoods emptied of their citizenry. Since 1967 the last 21% of Palestine, the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem have been brutally occupied and slowly taken over by illegal Israeli settlers backed by the Israeli army. Imposing the 18 year blockade of Gaza's land, air and sea borders was not enough horror for Israel to inflict on Gaza, and after frequent horrific bombing campaigns in 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2021, Israel is now committing genocide in Gaza, mass murdering an estimated 100,000 people and bombing and destroying most of Gaza's hospitals, clinics, schools and houses. WE MUST ACT or forever accept that we allowed a live-streamed genocide to go on, and on, and on with children the biggest victims. We must act or accept that we allowed a 77-year ethnic cleansing of an entire people, the Palestinians.
