Today, a high-level technical delegation comprising representatives from the Sierra Leone Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI), and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) visited IITA headquarters.
The strategic visit focused on knowledge exchange and technical learning from IITA’s advanced cassava value chain systems, as Sierra Leone advances the implementation of its IsDB Cassava Value Chain Development Project.
The delegation met with the IITA Senior Management Team, led by Deputy Director General, Partnerships for Delivery, Tahirou Abdoulaye, to discuss ways to deepen collaboration and strengthen regional partnerships. The visit also featured a tour of IITA’s cassava-related facilities and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
With collaboration driving innovation, this engagement marks another important step toward transforming cassava systems, boosting food security, and creating greater opportunities for farmers and agribusinesses across Africa.
