The Minister welcomed the spirit of cooperation between the forces, saying that everyone must work together and comply with government guidelines on hygiene and social distancing to reduce the effect of the virus.

The #Somaliland Minister of Defence, Abdikani Atteeye visited new Armed Forces Operation Centre in Hargeisa which has been set up to respond to the threat posed by the coronavirus outbreak by strengthening the coordination among the Armed Forces in their work against COVID-19.

The Ops Centre will apply government policies on social distancing and other preventative measures at the national, regional and community levels. The Operations Centre will also collect information from around the country concerning #COVID19 and the response to it.

The Defence Minister met Armed Forces COVID-19 Coordination Committee led by Deputy Chief of Staff Brigadier General Abdirisak Saed Bulaale and other Deputy Armed Forces Commanders, including Police, Custodian Corps, Coast Guard, Immigration and Fire Brigade.

This Ops Centre will be entirely devoted to aid and support the #Somaliland people as well as support public services to deal with the effects of #Covid19. In particular, the Army will bring their skills in health, logistics and security as well as their ability to organise.

With the support of the #UKAid, #Somaliland Armed Forces today launched an Operations Co-ordination Centre in the Officers mess to support the national response tackling the global #COVID19 pandemic.

The Centre manned by representatives of all the Armed Forces including Army, Police, Coast Guard, Custodial Corps, Fire Service and Immigration, aims to co-ordinate and direct the military assistance required by the civilian authorities to assist the people of #Somaliland.
