The Flood Protection Authority operates & maintains the system that protects the GNO region on the east bank of the MS River from floods, storms and hurricanes.
Every day, our team maintains, inspects and operates the region’s flood protection system—including levees, floodwalls, gates and pump stations. As hurricane season begins, we remain ready and encourage residents to stay informed, have a plan and be prepared.

At today’s Jefferson Parish press conference, Regional Director Jeff Williams reported 192 miles of levees and floodwalls, 3 gated pump stations with 17 pumps, and 8 complex flood control structures are all fully operational with no deficiencies.
