I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new post at Oxleas NHS Trust in adult learning disability! I’ve had a great first post working in special schools and learned so much. I’m looking forward to developing my dysphagia knowledge and working in the community
⭐️⭐️BIG NEWS⭐️⭐️

There is NHS testing available for BRCA gene faults for Jewish or (like me) people with Jewish scenery. BRCA gene faults are linked with increased risks of certain cancers. Link for more information and application form: https://t.co/KD9c4VjZMS

Palestinian children should wake up feeling excited to go to school and play with their friends.
Instead, for those murdered in Rafah, their last moments on this earth were filled with unimaginable fear as bombs rained down on their tents.
What a monstrous failure of humanity.
I am really shocked and disappointed by how few #SLT are talking about and denouncing genocide. The only ones I see on my feed are POC. Why are my white colleagues not speaking up? We are complicit. @RCSLT
Today it’s Swallowing Awareness Day 2024. As every year, I will be tweeting what I eat & drink and reflecting on the experiences of people who have eating, drinking and swallowing problems & the people who support them

Can’t believe it’s been a whole week since graduation! Lovely day celebrating all our accomplishments and hard work over a challenging 2 years. And nearly 6 months in my first role, time is flying
Most of all, I really enjoy spending time with the children and young people I work with. It’s rewarding getting to know them and their stories, and I hope to develop into a skilled practitioner who can effectively support their communication development and maintenance.
Reflecting on all I’ve learned since starting my NQP role in August working in specialist schools. I’d never worked with young people with PMLD before. I feel very fortunate to be well-supported and have a broad caseload in terms of ages and profiles of young people.
I’m gradually building up my practical knowledge about dysphagia too. I’m starting to join classes at lunch/snack time and modifying meals/drinks and observed mealtime assessments.
We're collaborating with The Laurels to offer a session of gender affirming voice/vocal therapy.
This is an opportunity to explore your voice in a safe environment and to talk with people with lived experience.

Thrilled to have completed my MSc Speech and Language Therapy with a merit🥳 It’s been tough but made it in the end. Can’t wait to start my NQP role at @CLCHNHSTrust in two weeks working in special schools!
