In 2024, before Assad was toppled, he was invited back into the Arab league, Biden sent negotiators to normalise, and even Erdogan tried to reach out. Everyone thought he was here to stay.

There was no attempt, covert or otherwise, from a foreign government to topple him. This was clear when looking at official statements, intelligence leaks, and even media at the time.

Behind the scenes, the revolutionaries were working day and night to liberate Syria, and by the will of god they succeeded in doing so independently despite all odds. Anyone that says otherwise is either ignorant or lying.

For those who don't know, during the Assad era Israel used to airstrike Iranian positions only. The week the Assad regime fell Israel bombed all of Syria's military bases, airport and army facilities. They knew Assad didn't propose a threat to them.

Al-Sharaa is on track to become the modern Great Man in the Near East people think Netanyahu, Erdogan, or Akhundzada are or thought the Khamenei, al-Assad, or Saddam would be. He went from Jihadi Henchmen to Islamist Warlord to "Moderate" Muslim Statesmen and now controls the most valuable buffer zone in the Levant surrounded by US allies, and without having to rely on American invention to get him where he is.

That's really important because that means he's not a puppet or vassal like a lot of leaders installed via foreign-funded and aided coups are. Rather than immediately out and becoming a rogue dictator like al-Assad or Sadam or some wannabe-Sultan like Khamenei or Akhundzada, as soon as he got into power, he put the Jihad fit and AK away, threw on a suit, started actually governing, got onto his own brother for making the new regime look corrupt, and started diplomacy with America and its allies of his own accord.

He keeps dissavowing his Jihadi John days when pressed while still brutally suppressing the current Jihadists in his country in the same fashion as he used to when he was one himself. He's not even taking Israel's bait by retaliating when they launch strikes at the border over "security concerns." He's playing the long game to keep Tel Aviv at bay and get the West to take the rest of sanctions against Syria away.

It's interesting seeing a leader from that region who's a pure pragmatist and not an ideologue or clown for once.
