When micromanaging their teachers, a principal should really get to know the students, because someone will need to take charge of them when the teacher quits mid year.
Principals don't think of yourself as lead-learners, but LEAD-ERS! Lead-leaner means your focus is on learning & instruction, which is the teachers focus. This means you're micromanaging them. Your focus should be on mentoring your staff. Build up, support, & value your staff.
Teachers don't leave because it's hard. Teachers are some of the hardest working professionals I know. They leave because the expectations and demands become more unrealistic every year.
@NicholasFerroni I'm working online at a mid level position, nothing fancy. 40 hours a week, Mo to Fri. I get to drop off the family before starting work, eat breakfast and lunch healthily at home. I'm making more than I was while working 60+ hrs, Mo-Sat, as a teacher.
@NicholasFerroni I have 20 years experience and work in California. It's not just about more pay. I make about 85K. Teacher Pay should be proportional to cost of living in that area.
@NicholasFerroni We are expected to do so much for free.
It was so bad at one point that once while shopping my kids asked: "Is that for us or Ur stdnts?". I realized right then & there that something was off.
A system mostly led by men and comprised of women it's prime for this type of abuse.
Making teachers go into work when their kids have no school = babysitter expenses when they can just work from home like every other profession allows.
