At long last, my indeterminate tomatoes are FINALLY organized and trellised. Nothing like waiting til they’re 6 feet tall to shuffle them and finish the weed matting underneath 😅

6/4 NORTHERN LIGHTS UPDATE: So far, there are no indications of the coronal mass ejection arriving on Earth, and it has been delayed compared to the earlier NOAA forecasts. This will decrease the odds of seeing a G3 storm before 10 PM. Whether this CME arrives tonight or not is still highly uncertain, but when it does arrive, if the magnetic shift is favorable, Northern Lights may become visible throughout the state. Given that it is already delayed, I wouldn't expect to see anything earlier than 10/11PM. Given the high uncertainty of Space Weather forecasting, it is still not a guarantee that any Northern Lights will be visible tonight, as it is quite possible that the CME could also miss Earth.
** POTENTIAL NORTHERN LIGHTS THURSDAY NIGHT **
The Northern Lights may be visible for the entirety of Pennsylvania (on the horizon) Thursday night with potential G3 solar storm conditions. Here is the cloud viewing forecast for tonight. The cloud outlook appears more favorable for many locations, as we will see mostly clear skies with some areas of high-level clouds that shouldn't hinder viewing.
Keep in mind, aurora forecasting is very difficult, and it is not a guarantee that it will occur tomorrow night. As of right now, the SWPC does hint at a G3 solar storm. It is still not a guarantee we will see auroras in Pennsylvania, but it is looking quite possible.
**Travelling long distances is not recommended (high risk, although high reward). **
If this storm occurs, all of PA will see these auroras. To be able to see the auroras, you will need a good view of the northern horizon, away from heavy light pollution. **YOU WILL NOT SEE AURORA IN HIGH-LIGHT POLLUTION REGIONS.** Smartphones & digital cameras will best pick up on the Northern Lights. Your eyes will need to adjust to the dark for at least 30 minutes as well. The best time will be after 9:30-10:00 pm or whenever the last light on the horizon disappears at your location.
I will continue to provide updates and let you know the latest details on this potential geomagnetic storm.
Stay tuned for updates!

Police confirmed an investigation is underway at Armstrong School District after the administration said it's aware of rumors about "inappropriate relationships" between students and staff. https://t.co/3Qo8b8C7iM
THEO VON: “Was there anybody who was immune to COVID-19?”
DR. MCCULLOUGH: “There’s one adult group. You’re going to laugh.”
[Theo Von listens closely for the reveal]
DR. MCCULLOUGH: “Smokers… They got very mild cases. And they don’t get long COVID.”
THEO VON: “Why?”
MCCULLOUGH: “Because smokers maintain a level of nicotine in the bloodstream… Smoking blocks the spike protein. It’s amazing. I thought smokers were going to go down.”
THEO VON: “Do you think that’s a good idea [to use nicotine patches] on a regular basis?”
DR. MCCULLOUGH: “I think [it’s a good idea] if they have long COVID... Nicotine, don’t forget, is a nootropic. A nootropic is a drug that makes the brain function more effectively... It’s addictive, but it’s not harmful to the human body... Nicotine patches are perfectly safe.”
I still can’t figure out what kind of chicken this is. Grok still says a buff Orpington, but she acts like a meat bird. Eats a lot, lays around, waddles. Anyone know?
#MeteorSighting: Eyewitnesses in New England and @NOAA’s GOES-19 satellite reported a bright fireball on Saturday, May 30, at 2:06 p.m EDT accompanied by a loud noise. The meteor appears to have fragmented at an altitude of 40 miles over northeast MA and southeast NH. The energy released at breakup is estimated to be equivalent to about 300 tons of TNT, which accounts for the loud noise.
Eyewitness accounts supplied by the American Meteor Society.
🚨 WOW! Another video of the “explosion” in the Boston area really captures how LOUD the boom was
It’s looking like the cause was a “significant” meteor crashing through the atmosphere and burning up, as indicated by heat signatures via satellite, per @NStewWX
This has not yet been confirmed.
Just became aware the awful news of this explosion in Western PA.
As a proud Ag Committee member, I know how devastating this is for the community. My team has been in contact and is ready to help in any way.
Keeping those injured and all impacted in my thoughts right now.

Last night, I made a simple request on X. I asked if anybody visiting Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Day would stop by Alan’s grave and leave a photo for our family.
What happened next honestly caught me off guard.
By this afternoon, dozens of Americans from all walks of life had made the walk to Section 60 to visit SSG Alan W. Shaw. Veterans. Families. Complete strangers. People who had never met Alan, but chose to honor him anyway.
For one day on social media, people put aside the constant noise and negativity and came together for something bigger than themselves. My notifications filled with photos, kind messages, prayers, and stories from people honoring not just Alan, but so many of our fallen heroes.
I don’t think people fully understand what moments like this mean to Gold Star families. The fear is never just losing them. It’s losing them slowly over time as the world moves on and fewer people remember their name.
But today showed me that Alan will never be forgotten.
After years of watching social media reward some of the worst parts of humanity, today gave me a reminder that the good is still out there too.
Thank you to every single person who stopped by to visit Alan today, said his name, shared his story, or took a moment to honor the fallen.
This right here is the America Alan knew and loved enough to fight and die for.
And today, y’all showed us all that it’s still here and it’s still worth fighting for. 🇺🇸
There are seven dead sawfly larvae that were on my roses. I used Spinosad this morning. I knew it would work, just didn’t think this quickly. Also sprayed my eggplant with it.
