@MrsYork_Science & I are super proud of ALL the @Plano_Schools#TXSEF students. @RiceMSRavens walked away w/ three 2nd places, one 1st, & BEST GRAND Physical Science in the ENTIRE STATE! Oh, my ❤️! Congrats to all student researchers. The future is bright!
Great #TXSEF experience. Students=positive, cheering 4 others! Began w/19,368 projects. 3% make it to 2nd round at A&M! Of those, @Plano_Schools earned 11 top middle school places & Best Grand Prize Physical Sci! Bonus=seeing former students! @SMS_Panthers@RiceMSRavens
Love this former student of mine so much for coming from Jasper to help 7th science get ready for Monday's open house! Her kind & generous spirit are much appreciated. @SMS_Panthers @JasperJaguars
Adhesives fail in wet conditions b/c water forms a physical barrier for the glue. Also, we were reminded to choose an experimental model carefully... nothing is perfectly like human skin, but leather & silicone have lots of positives. @SMS_Panthers
No football waching for me.... I'm doing experiments with @utswstars & Texas A&M this morning. Here we're exploring adhesives on different simulated skins. Leather, wet leather, silicone, wet silicone.
Engineering Research Symposium from @utswstars & Texas A&M: As we continue to explore tissue adhesives this morning, we made glue w/ flour, sugar, water, vinegar, & heat! We adhered paper together b/c paper is cellouse, so our glue sticks well! @utswstars@SMS_Panthers

During the final day of the STARS Middle School Camp, students and teachers learned about the earth's rotation and how it impacts seasons, did a virtual escape room, and finished the day by learning about the science of making ice cream.
Today the Middle School camp students learned about the Law of Conservation of Mass and balancing equations! Tremendous thank you to Isabella Brown (Conacci-Sorrell Lab) and Valli Annamalai for presenting their research on different types of cancer!
We love how Ms. Jerrica Cleveland and her students like to have fun while learning! Here are some cool outfits for Wacky Wednesday! Let's look forward to what tomorrow will be!
Today the STARS Middle School students learned about elements, compounds, and dichotomous keys! Students performed a few interactive games to explore how scientists use dichotomous keys to identify and classify objects.
Today the STARS Middle School camp students learned about homeostasis and performed a timed physical exercise lab. Thank you to J. Coronado (Reese Lab) and Madison Martinez (Johnson Lab) for presenting on their career paths, lab focuses, and research project details!
@_JRBeall & I are happy this week is finally here! We are honored to be with 30 middle school students & 9 teachers from all over DFW. Day 1 of UTSW STARS Middle School Camp was fun & fascinating!
