Good thread. Stability and reliability over speed any day. When we (aerospace) find a subsystem isn't quite up to reliabilty spec while in its expected operating environment, often the easiest fix is simply to sub in a space-rated component or two.

On upside, C got a better system, on downside, whole thing was hard, delayed IOC, cost $$$, & cost me several Depot Activation trips to the Netherlands.

@Hawkeyepaddles @CcibChris Or possibly, the pic is from when they were still mucking about with the C's Delta Flight Path system, or the carrier's JPALS. Once the USN deigned to provide the CORRECT wire model to the contractor, the C became a '2-wire machine' on a 3-wire deck.
