Special 50th anniversary post! This milestone not only belongs to SMU Art Gallery, but also to MSVU Art Gallery and Dalhousie Art Gallery. Adam Myatt created this abstracted 50 out of the three gallery floor plan shapes. Thanks Adam and Happy Anniversary to all!
The gallery will be open to visitors this weekend again from noon to five. Boost your study/work flow by letting your mind and body rest in a quiet space while gazing at a beautifully crafted geodesic dome!
SMU AG will open its doors for some limited hours this month! The public is welcome to come view Rob Shedden's geodesic dome installation on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from noon until five pm. We will do the same for the following week (10th,11th,12th). Masks are required.
Another tasty participant in our 50th anniversary celebration is McDonaldโs quarter pounder. An ordinary concept: 4 ounces of beef with ketchup, mustard, onions, dill pickles, on a sesame seed bun, but with the help of a catchy theme song and you get extra-ordinary!
True story: A&W tried to grab some of that thirsty McDonaldโs crowd in โ80โs by introducing its third pound burger at the same price as the quarter pounder. To their dismay the majority of folks thought a third was smaller than a quarter and didnโt want to pay more for less!
Rob Shedden sent pics of his progress on his geodesic dome project in the gallery. What a beautiful way to bring math into physical form, with expert craftsmanship!
Dig it, while she was catching some rays on the Pacific something groovy was happening that very same year on the Atlantic...Saint Mary's University Art Gallery was established! Happy Anniversary to us both and thanks to Adam Myatt for this ginchiest of illustrations
Although Barbie, the iconic fashion doll named after its creator's daughter, was born in 1959, she didn't go to Malibu until 1971. She hit the beach with a baby blue tricot suit, a yellow beach towel and long, long hair! (Malibu Ken, with bendable legs, sold separately)
50 years ago Walt Disney World was created.
30 years ago I went there for the first time with my family, we drove our Westphalia down, my brother and I in the back asking "Are we there yet?" enough times to drive anyone crazy.
8 years ago I had a kid, a.k.a. another chance to go to Disney World, "When you're 8 like I was".... whoops, sorry kid here's a t-shirt!
Happy 50th to SMUAG, Halifax's equivalent to Disney World!
