Impressed with my S2 classes engagement using video guides to learn to sketch complex shapes in 2 point perspective! Zero demos today (not even with a visualiser), quick explanation with WAGOLL, and then pupils working independently through the tasks from topic guide.
S2's have started their perspective sketching unit which means it's time to utilise video tutorials! Live demo with visualiser, this looping on board, and a pupil version accessed on their iPads. Everyone focused & working at their own pace!
Come and join an amazing school with brilliant pupils, behaviour and staff! Rare an opportunity arises like this!

👏 Christmas Competition! 🎉
This has become an annual tradition but there are more books this year.
To win the collection of my books simply retweet this post. The winner will be selected at random - open to all globally - best of luck!
Winner announced 22.12.23 🎁🌲🎁
Enjoyed presenting after school CPD sessions on the use of flashcards for revision today. Probably spent longer than necessary setting my screen recordings to look like they are in phones though… #OtherDigitalFlashcardPlatformsAreAvailable
Practical Metalworking started today's lesson with a generation game. Found in a random folder shortly before the class started, made this 5+ years ago, can't remember who inspired it. Good effort from class after explaining what generation game is and why there was a teddy!
Impressed with my S1 class' effort cutting their corner halving joints for their frame. Pupils were learning to cut using the diagonal method to remove waste wood.
Teaching Higher Engineering to structure their concurrent forces calculations, finding magnitude and angle required to maintain equilibrium. Live modelling whilst the N5 pupils worked through their tasks. Able to add further annotations for support and clarity.
Teaching S1 how to cut their corner halving joint - projecting demo onto board to help provide clarity. Then looping videos of steps to support pupils working!
🚨 RT Competition 🚨
Our book, Teaching & Learning Illuminated is out in a few weeks and I’ve just received my advance copies! Thought would give them away.
To be the first in country to own a copy, simply RT this. Winner drawn at random. Competition closes on Wednesday at 5pm.
I have created a student friendly version of the retrieval practice ideas of @KateJones_teach, @teacherhead and @olicav and the deliberate practice model of @deansforimpact. This will be use to structure RP as an independent study task. Please RT if you would like a copy.
