As a tech lead or eng manager, you so frequently get request from above or from other teams to drop what you are doing and work on this thing they need, *now*.
During my 4 years at Uber after asking these questions, 9 out of 10 times it turned out it wasn't really urgent:
@buritica On the other side how can you make progress/innovation if you do not try? Has someone here never tried out things throughout his career? I had my share of failures but I believe i learned valuable lessons.
@rhein_wein The more funnier part is that some managers were developers before. Some might even still be given that hands on manager is a thing. This is what bridges the gap best: hands on managers
