With the tone of the tuch situation, if I'm GM I'm shifting my talks w Benson into high gear to get done before July 1. Only takes one team to offer a silly deal to tie your hands both now and w future contract. He's the one piece that has to get done.
Honestly more disappointed with aj to the pats than Garrett to the rams. Don't know how BUF could have put a competitive pkg together to get CLE attention.
@NotTheJoeMarino A huge part of the "untouchable" conversation is always what's coming back. Obv mcdavid untouchable is way different than rob Thomas untouchable.
@PatrickMoranTB Like tuch skill set more esp for the next 2-3 yrs. Doesn't seem like he wants a short term deal and i don't love the idea of big $ long term for a 30yr old player. Sucks but just don't think their timelines match
Sabres off-season has me holding my breath a bit. Two key questions are tuch's and Benson's deals. Hard to really focus elsewhere until those 2 shoes drop.
@Merk256 Almost as if you should draft players that fit the body type you're looking for instead of trying to drastically change someone. Lost a couple yrs of development for epinesa doing it
@burnsieoriginal Knew about the talent on the blue line and top 6. Admittedly surprised by how locked in dobes looks. Next question for him is if he's just a guy that got hot at the right time or if he can sustain it. Feels like a PITA BUF is going to be facing for a while. Lol
Read somewhere about the idea to bridge Benson w a *wink, wink* long term ext agreement coming in Jan in order to maximize cap space this year. Interesting in theory but I don't really want to screw around w it. Huge piece goin forward. Lock him up
@MattKopnak On top of these reasons, I'm also curious as to how much the willingness to waive NMCs has actually shifted at this point. It was a great season but might take stringing a couple together to significantly change how the org is viewed league wide.
