The Blackbird pair’s full clutch is 4 eggs! They were warm today, so the female has begun incubation. These should hatch around Mother’s Day.

Finally got round to seeing the returning Lesser Scaup at Staines Reservoirs over the weekend. Also got the Black Redstart, my first one up there! And great to see the 2 Great Northern Divers and pairs of Black-necked Grebes displaying.
@gninwoDeoJ@sferguk@bucksbirdclub@bucksbirdnews Massive well done for reading the code of the ring! This bird was ringed by my ringing group a year before I joined them. Great to see it survived its first winter and successfully reared young! @CarlHunterRoach
Just received ringing data back on this juvenile Black Stork (69X9) that I observed near Saedinenie, Plovdiv, BULGARIA on both 25th August and 9th September 2024.
Ringed as a chick in a nest of 3 young on 24th June 2024 near Lužnice, CZECHIA 🇨🇿
It travelled at least 1,068km!
I did not wake up today thinking I would get such crazy views of my first-ever Lapland Bunting! Fantastic to enjoy this incredible bird with many great people at Staines Reservoirs. @LondonBirdClub#londonbirds#Lifer
@gninwoDeoJ@LondonBirdClub Even if it did fly off. It’s quite likely it will return as it could have just gone to roost somewhere and could be back to feed again tomorrow.
Ridiculous views of the Lapland Bunting at Staines Reservoirs just before 16:00. Unfortunately flew off West along causeway calling, but may have dropped down further on. @LondonBirdClub#londonbirds
Encountered a few interesting butterflies near the Maritsa River in Pazardzhik #Bulgaria today. Freyer’s Purple Emperor (Apatura metis) and Common Glider (Neptis sappho). @europebutterfly
@sferguk Shaun sorry to say but looks like a Common. Only inner primaries are translucent on this bird, Arctic Tern would always have all of its primaries being translucent. Also, a longer head and neck profile than Arctic and a diffuse black bar on underside of prim. (distinct in Arctic)
