Russia’s attacks on Kyiv’s Pershka Lavra are deplorable.
Attacks like this are why I have announced sanctions to target the vessels, the money and the actors propping up Russia’s war economy, and in turn, threatening European security.
We will increase the pressure on Putin and his circle of collaborators until Russia’s war machine is brought to a halt and peace returns to our continent.
The UK economy basically works like this:
Get paid £2,000.
Give £900 to a landlord. Give £200 to the council. Give £150 to energy companies. Give £300 to supermarkets. Give £300 to car insurance and fuel.
Spend the rest surviving until next payday.
Then get lectured by someone who bought their house for £37,000 in 1988 about how you need to stop buying coffees and cancel subscriptions.
🚨 NEWS: The UK Environment Secretary has objected to Thames Water’s £10bn rescue proposal - a clear recognition that the company’s latest rescue plan is not in the public interest and does nothing to protect our environment.
After years of financial mismanagement, mounting debt and relentless sewage pollution, customers should not be expected to pay the price for this failed business model.
River Action is calling on the Government to use its powers to place Thames Water into Special Administration - the legal regime created by Parliament to protect consumers, safeguard the environment and ensure essential water services continue when a water company can no longer meet its obligations.
Thames Water has broken the rules. It is time for the Government to show that failure has consequences.

We now have clear evidence that the Russian government tried to assassinate the British Prime Minister because of our support for Ukraine.
Anyone in British public life that fails to condemn Russia is a disgrace
Had a wonderful meeting with PM Keir Starmer in Evian. The last year has been outstanding as far as India-UK relations are concerned. The trade deal has opened many avenues of economic cooperation. Today’s talks focused on how to add even more momentum to India-UK ties.
@Keir_Starmer@G7
Big Downing St announcement tonight. Keir Starmer secures major jobs and energy investment at G7 to deliver growth and security at home
· £1.3 billion in new investment secured from leading companies in France and India to back clean energy and AI projects in the UK
· More than 1,400 new jobs to be created in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham
· Major new battery storage and clean power projects to boost energy security and help bring down bills for working people
Funny how the posts about how bad the social media ban is are doing so well on X. Given so many parents want the ban, I find it hard to believe what I am seeing on X reflects reality. Kind of proves the point the Govt. is making about the dangers of algorithmic cultures for kids.
For those sucking up and regurgitating all the misinformation because it suits the narratives that outrage you:
1) YouTube is not being banned. The under-16 friendly version remains available. Content design for adults does not.
2) BlueSky has not been exempted. No definitive list has been published yet.
Social media was created for adults, not children. Over the years it has been used by more and more by children to access unsuitable, addictive and damaging content. Mental health issues in kids has accellerated sharply since they began regularly accessing this content, including a 50% rise in suicide rates over just 10 years.
If you are outraged by legislation designed to provide significant protection for children, then you are the problem, not the legislation.
The idea that our kids are safer being looked out for by Musk & Zuckerberg than a democratically elected government of the U.K. is the weirdest take I have ever come across in my life.
Excellent investigative journalism by BBC Panorama, showing Russian involvement not just in arson attacks on Starmer’s house but also in anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim attacks. https://t.co/kGQ3uLDV1Z
Starmer is only unpopular because our right wing media and Russian influence has persuaded the masses so. Anyone with half a brain knows he is the best PM for many years and has already delivered on many of Labours manifesto pledges.
The @BBCNews has now confirmed what some of us warned for years.
A Russian diplomat ran a sabotage campaign on British soil: arson against the Prime Minister’s own home, and fake far-right and Islamist groups built to turn us against each other. This is not crime. It is how war is fought by powers who don’t want to expose their hand. https://t.co/G7cp3xaZQK
Keir Starmer has just sent a message - from the G7 - to Andy Burnham that he can surrender any hope that he will walk away from being prime minister in any kind of smooth or orderly transfer of power. These are his on-camera words
“So very many times on my political journey people have said to me ‘it's not possible.’ They said it's not possible to turn the Labour Party around, it’s not possible to win an election, it’s not possible if you do win an election to invest in your public services and stabilise the economy. Wrong every time. And that's why I intend not to walk away from this, but to carry on with what I was elected to do, which is to serve this country and bring back the change that people desperately need in their lives.”
