Words are a powerful thing that can shape views, perceptions, beliefs & expectations.
How we talk about patients can dehumanise them & impact how we see them.

Completed my retrieval placement (4 weeks) โ And 2 weeks of placement 1 of 2nd year โ
Proud of myself for just surviving this one - especially in a physical health setting where some very poorly patients didn't have long to live. I feel like I need a holiday to reset ๐
Half way through my retrieval placement - will be glad to finally complete stage 1 and focus on year 2 ๐ฎโ๐จ Navigating grief and placement and uni is pretty exhausting, but we keep going ๐ด๐ข

Yesterday I lost my brother. Life will never be the same and I don't know how to survive it. My best friend, the person I was supposed to grow up with and grow older with. Please if you're struggling, keep fighting. Don't leave those who love you behind.

Final day of placement 1.2 tomorrow and I have absolutely LOVED Perinatal Mental Health. Learnt so much and worked with the most inspirational people. I see a potential future in PMH so a little bit gutted it's coming to an end, but also feel ready for the next challenge ๐
Day 1 of placement complete โ The team are absolutely lovely so far and I've really enjoyed my day ๐ Eyes have been opened to how much there is to learn and I can't wait to see how much more awareness and knowledge I have by the end of it! ๐ค
After the twistiest turniest time to get my placement sorted, today my placement changed (hopefully for the final time ๐ ) back to Perinatal Mental Health! So so excited for Tuesday! Just from a few emails the team already seem lovely...Happy Easter! ๐ฃ๐ฐ
Really enjoyed taking part in session 1 of 6 of the Unison Future Health Leaders programme ๐ Looking forward to brain storming for my project and getting stuck in!
Week 3 of uni and something I'd absolute love to see is more around supporting those who may be experiencing hygiene poverty. E.g. signposting to free uniform cleaning/sanitary products in toilets etc.
My cohort have also been super supportive offering their lived experience and books etc. to help give me an insight into a world very unfamiliar to me. Such a great group ๐ฅฐ
