Hon. Minister Osea Naiqamu did the right thing to resign and focus on his health after returning from medical treatment overseas.
Best wishes to him in his retirement.
Surprised to have learnt from @Hon Bill Gavoka that Hon Osea Naiqamu has resigned. Always receptive and accomodating whenever I seek his assistance. Wish him well.
In Parliament today, I asked the Minister for Health, Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete to provide a definitive update on the status of the new Ba Hospital. He had this to say.
For Goodness sake there are 35 cases and more seriously 2 cases in CWM. And yet Dr Fong & @FijiPM you are relaxing movement. Didn't you just advise us that the virus moves when people move. By now you should already know that people don't move only if you impose a lock down.
I'd like to remind the #Fiji Government that we serve the same people, THE PEOPLE OF FIJI. That is why I supported @tikoduaduamp's motion that @fijiparliament approves $50 million from the #COVID19 support aid funds to be disbursed as income support to the unemployed.
My response to comments by the Minister for Health @Nadokoulu in Parliament on Wednesday 2nd June 2021, that “front liners are not super spreaders” of the COVID-19 virus.
We support the frontliners but my concern is that the alarming trend that front liners appear to be over-represented as a percentage of new cases compared to the rest of the population. The disciplined forces are now making up the majority of both new cases.
Thank you @AusHCFJ for using NGO & CSO to help the people because Giving it to the @FijianGovt means risking it will be used for its electioneering process apart from the fact that it being a blatant abuser of Human Rights and the Indigenous Rights of its native population.
Pressure is building on Dr Fong and his team to bring COVID numbers down after the @FijiPM made the decision on Sunday night to relax movement. It is now upon Dr Fong to inform the Public whether the PMs decision was made under his advise.

Sorry to hear that Hon. Osea Naiqamu has resigned from his position as Forests Minister. Hon. Naiqamu has had a long association with forestry; serving in the industry in many capacities, culminating as Minister. I look forward to working with him in Parliament & wish him well.
Six of the 26 tenders for the purchase of biomedical equipment valued at $20.7 million in 2015 did not meet procurement regulations, says @MPLeawere .

The FijiFirst Govt has a habit of saying "leaving no one behind" but didn't hesitate to dump 758 loyal @FijiAirways employees at the first sign of trouble, shame! Since then, there's been no real assistance for the West except by @FriendFiji , A. Lockington & few others.
Waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting... for the Prime Minister to address the nation. It’s way past my bedtime... 12am, some of us will turn into a pumpkin. Waiting, waiting & waiting & we don’t give a damn!!! Hmmm...
Many maritime islands such as the Lau group are engaged with co-operative businesses allowing their communities to access basic food items, at the same time provide for their families. I therefore plead to @postfijihq not to go against these cooperatives.
The @FDB_50 board should be removed for sleeping on the job. Heads should roll because they had ample time to bring notice to Government that the guarantee needed to be reviewed. https://t.co/FH5ajHfPgM #FijiTImes
“You remember, we protested last year when the biggest borrower from FDB became the chair of FDB. FDB lent some $65 million to Fiji Airways and the CEO of Fiji Airways became chair of the FDB board.” - SODELPA Leader @BillGavokaMP .

By convention, all those who arrive on our shores are isolated for 14days to ensure they are COVID free. This 14days isolation period has been applied to primary and secondary contacts of all positive cases. This ‘double standard’ is cause for concern. One rule must apply to all.
