Yesterday, SOMOS was given a chance to speak to VP Harris about how the American Jobs Plan could create greater access to affordable high-speed internet for all Americans.
We also made clear that we cannot solve the digital divide by giving more money to the corporations, like Comcast, that helped create it. That’s why we asked the Vice President to fight to keep protections for cities and states to build PUBLIC INTERNET in the American Jobs Plan.
Our Lead Organizer, Kimberly Vasquez (@_vasquez.kimberly) was invited to a panel about the necessity of High-Speed Internet with Madam @vp Kamala Harris, and others from across the country.

Madam Vice President ends with “[to] Kimberly’s point this is also a civil rights issue, and it is about equity and fairness.”
