An ischemic stroke is the most prevalent type of stroke, accounting for about 85% of cases in the UK.
It occurs when a blockage obstructs blood flow to a specific area of the brain, leading to the death of brain cells.
This damage can significantly impact how individuals function—affecting movement, thought processes, emotions, and communication skills.
If an ischemic stroke occurs, prompt medical attention is crucial.
Patients will receive specialised care and medication aimed at preventing future strokes. Post-stroke recovery typically involves comprehensive support that includes medical treatment as well as rehabilitation therapy designed to assist individuals in regaining their abilities and adjusting to any changes caused by the stroke.
Understanding these aspects can help raise awareness about ischemic strokes and underscore the importance of seeking immediate treatment if symptoms arise.

@jgant422 I have heard of it and I would assume it's a see if it works for you type of item but they aren't cheap so I would definitely suggest researching more about it. Plus, if you have a pacemaker or defibrillators implanted, I wouldn't recommend using it if you have one?
Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) tends to happen at night, which as you can imagine can disturb your sleep.
Has anyone else experienced Restless Leg Syndrome after their stroke OR did you suffer with RLS before and it's become worse after stroke??

@Sweetpea72z Hi Hollie,
Sorry to read this, hope your strokes weren't to serious and that you're recovering well??? You're exactly right, strokes don't just affect the elderly, they can affect everyone at any age.
@OGdukeneurosurg The condition is called Pitted Keratolysis, a bacterial infection that mainly affects the skin on the feet. Treatment consists of topical antibiotics that you rub on your skin like a lotion. Antibiotics could include: Clindamycin, Erythromycin and Antiseptics.
