I am shocked and deeply concerned by the sudden news of the resignation of Shri C. V. Ananda Bose, the Governor of West Bengal.

The reasons behind his resignation are not known to me at this moment. However, given the prevailing circumstances, I would not be surprised if the Governor has been subjected to some pressure from the Union Home Minister to serve certain political interests on the eve of the forthcoming State Assembly elections.

Union Home Minister just informed me that Shri R.N. Ravi is being appointed as Governor of West Bengal. He never consulted with me as per the established convention in this regard.

Such actions undermine the spirit of the Constitution of India and strike at the very foundation of our federal structure. The Centre must respect the principles of cooperative federalism and refrain from taking unilateral decisions that erode democratic conventions and the dignity of States.

সমগ্র মতুয়া সমাজের ও মতুয়া মহাসংঘের বড়মা বীণাপানি দেবীর তিরোধান দিবসে তাঁকে জানাই বিনম্র শ্রদ্ধা ও প্রণাম।

শ্রী শ্রী হরিচাঁদ ঠাকুর ও শ্রী শ্রী গুরুচাঁদ ঠাকুরের প্রদর্শিত পথে মতুয়া মহাসংঘ বাংলার সামাজিক সংস্কার ও নবজাগরণের এক অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ। দলিত ও অবহেলিত মানুষের অধিকার রক্ষা, শিক্ষার প্রসার এবং জাতপাতহীন এক মানবিক সমাজ গড়ার যে আন্দোলন এই মহাসংঘ শুরু করেছিল, বড়মা সারাজীবন সেই আদর্শকেই লালন করেছেন। তাঁর নেতৃত্বে মতুয়া মহাসংঘ সামাজিক সাম্য ও ভ্রাতৃত্বের এক স্তম্ভ হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।

বড়মার সঙ্গে আমার সম্পর্ক ছিল ব্যক্তিগত, আত্মিক। তাঁর মাতৃস্নেহের পরশ আমি নিবিড়ভাবে পেয়েছিলাম - এ আমার জীবনের পরম পাওয়া। তাঁর চিকিৎসাসহ যেকোনো দরকারে তিনি যখনই আমাকে ডেকেছেন, আমি ছুটে গেছি তাঁর কাছে। এটা আমার গর্ব, আমাদের সরকার তাঁর অসামান্য সামাজিক অবদানের জন্য বড়মা'কে রাজ্যের সর্বোচ্চ সম্মান 'বঙ্গবিভূষণ'-এ ভূষিত করেছিল।

শুধু তাই নয়, মতুয়া সমাজের সার্বিক কল্যাণের জন্যও আমরা নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছি।

মতুয়া বিকাশ পর্ষদ ও নমঃশূদ্র বিকাশ পর্ষদ গঠন করা হয়েছে। পূর্ণব্রহ্ম শ্রী শ্রী হরিচাঁদ ঠাকুরকে সম্মান জানিয়ে তাঁর জন্মদিনে সরকারী ছুটি ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে।

ঠাকুরনগরে, ঠাকুরবাড়ির কাছাকাছি হরিচাঁদ-গুরুচাঁদ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় করা হয়েছে। কৃষ্ণনগরে গড়ে তোলা হচ্ছে হরিচাঁদ গুরুচাঁদ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের এক্সটেনশন ক্যাম্পাস। গাইঘাটায় পি আর ঠাকুর সরকারি কলেজ করা হয়েছে।

পানীয় জলের জন্য হাবড়া-গাইঘাটা – ‘জলতৃপ্তি’ জল প্রকল্প করা হয়েছে। ইছামতী নদীর ওপর মুড়িঘাটা ব্রিজ ও বলদেঘাটা খালের ওপর কুঠিপাড়া নাগবাড়ী ব্রিজ তৈরী করা হয়েছে। গাইঘাটায় নতুন ITI ও Polytechnic কলেজ করা হয়েছে। গাইঘাটায় হয়েছে কিষাণ মান্ডি। ঠাকুরনগরের বিখ্যাত ফুলবাজার ও ফুল-চাষীদের কথা মাথায় রেখে ওখানে ফুলমান্ডি করা হচ্ছে। ঠাকুরনগরকে ঢেলে সাজানো হয়েছে।

কিন্তু অত্যন্ত পরিতাপের বিষয়, কেন্দ্রের বিজেপি সরকারের চক্রান্তে আজ এক অস্থির ও বিভ্রান্তিকর পরিস্থিতিতে মতুয়া ভাই-বোনদের ঠেলে দেওয়া হয়েছে। নাগরিকত্ব দেবার নামে রাজনীতির খেলা চলছে। তাঁদের পরিচয় নিয়েই প্রশ্ন তোলা হচ্ছে। SIR করে ইচ্ছে করে ভোটার তালিকা থেকে তাঁদের বাদ দেওয়া হচ্ছে। যাঁরা পুরুষানুক্রমে এদেশের নাগরিক, যাঁদের ভোটে সরকার নির্বাচিত হয়, আজ তাঁদের নতুন করে 'নাগরিকত্ব' দেওয়ার নামে অনিশ্চয়তার মুখে দাঁড় করানো হচ্ছে।

এই অন্যায় আমরা মেনে নেবো না। আমার মতুয়া ভাইবোন সহ বাংলার মানুষের অধিকার কেড়ে নেওয়ার যে চেষ্টা চলছে, তার বিরুদ্ধে আমাদের লড়াই চলবে। বাংলার মানুষের গায়ে কোনো আঁচ পড়তে আমরা দেব না। এই বিশেষ দিনে এ আমার অঙ্গীকার।

The shirtless protest by members of the Indian Youth Congress at the AI Summit reflects poor judgment. At a forum attended by international leaders and global business figures, such conduct sends the wrong message about our national priorities.

Democracy guarantees the right to protest but it also demands responsibility. When representing India before the world, partisan theatrics must give way to maturity and restraint.

Political differences can be fought relentlessly but never at the expense of the nation’s honour and dignity.

আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসের এই পুণ্যদিনে সম্মান জানাই বিশ্বের সকল ভাষা ও ভাষাভাষী মানুষকে। বিশ্বের সকল দেশের সকল ভাষা-শহিদদের ও ভাষা-সংগ্রামীদের জানাই আমার প্রণাম ও অন্তরের শ্রদ্ধা।

রবীন্দ্রনাথ - নজরুল - সুকান্ত - জীবনানন্দের বাংলা শুধু নয়, আমরা সব ভাষাকেই সম্মান করি। এটা আমার গর্ব যে, আমাদের সময়ে হিন্দি, সাঁওতালি, কুরুখ, কুড়মালি, নেপালি, উর্দু, রাজবংশী, কামতাপুরী, পাঞ্জাবি, তেলুগু ভাষাকে আমরা সরকারি ভাষা হিসাবে স্বীকৃতি দিয়েছি। সাদরি ভাষার মানোন্নয়নেও আমরা সচেষ্ট হয়েছি। হিন্দি আকাদেমি, রাজবংশী ভাষা আকাদেমি, কামতাপুরী ভাষা আকাদেমি, সাঁওতালি আকাদেমি – সব করা হয়েছে। এটাও সুনিশ্চিত করেছি যে, রাজ্যের প্রত্যেক ভাষা-ভাষী মানুষ তাদের মাতৃভাষায় পড়াশোনা করার সুযোগ পায়।

একুশের এই পুণ্য দিনে আরও একবার অঙ্গীকার করছি — যে-কোনো ভাষার ওপর যদি আক্রমণ আসে – আমরা সবাই মিলে তার বিরুদ্ধে রুখে দাঁড়াবো। সকল ভাষা সমান ভাবে সম্মাননীয়।
