q2: a question i have is why would warlords architects be mostly man and not women? why female architect do not get as much recognition as male architect? #be904#be904_4#be904_4_2#s1w16
I think the reason why facing the west is considered bad is because it is hotter than other orientations. It's because of that people often avoid west-facing homes and maybe avoid having openings on the west side of their houses. It's not about whether they want the (1/) #be904
sunlight entering the space by perhaps not having an opening facing the west. My question here is, what's wrong with the opening? Firstly, it leads to a nice view and views do help a house to sell better. Sure there is the point that some (2/) #BE904#BE904_5#BE904_5_2#S1W17
It's a really good and powerful skill to have though because you start to develop a mindset of how you approach to certain design and figure out what is wrong with certain architects. #be904
One thing that I find doing a lot after this module is not simply idolizing these architects but also finding out about their thinking processes and criticizing them which is weird if you look up to these architects. #be904
have no focus, like there is nothing interesting or outstanding about the design and it would seem rather plain unless other ideas or paradigms are implemented or taken into consideration.
(end/)
#be904
I don't think it will be copying as the exact design would still have to vary according to the site and its conditions, it's more of like considerations you think of while designing. About the dominant Paradigm, i think if you just take it out, the work will seem to

Right? My kitchen is facing west and i can't bear the glare and heat and there are no measures against it... Guess there's a good view for sunset though.....

I keep hearing that the United States is not a very nice place due to racism, safety, etc. If I was in his place, I would say it will be shocking studying and living in the a new environment. #be904
Or how was his time studying in the states when he was raised in Southeast Asia, did the difference between both places gave him a shock, or was it still adaptable for him? (end/) #be904#be904_5#be904_5_3#S1W17
I guess it did because the environment and culture is very different from the United States. He also mention about specific context which shows that he has changed over time while practicing architecture. #be904
It's not really a concept that I struggled with but more to my own curiosity, did transitioning from the United States to Malaysia change his perspective? (1/) #be904#be904_5#be904_5_3#S1W17
Using his ideas, well then i do not think it is copying as in kevin mark low's own idea "specific context" every building would have a differentiation in terms of their use and where they are located and the specific context of the site in which the project is located.
So in the end if thats the copying you're referring to then i do not think its copying rather adopting his ideas to create your own design based on your own design ideas.
Depends on what type of vopying you're referring too. If you're referring to just straight up the copying of kevin mark low's ideas, well then yea i do think in a literal sense that it is counted as copying. But if you're talking about the design or end product that we get from
I mean it could be anything, I feel that there are too many factors and considerations that affects the design... Architecture movements, Site conditions, comfortablilty, etc etc + now dominant Paradigm? It's basically impossible to include them all so just focus on some.

all good buildings carry the same ethos, meaning, uniqueness, maybe similar form and aesthetics but yeah. Sorry for long response, felt that I could relate to your question as I also was asking myself this same thing n tried to unpack it. (end/) #be904#be904_3#be904_3_3#S1W17
To make discoveries, is to progress not just one's current project completion, but to also progress one's thinking and philosophy, which drives the very nature of how an architect designs, all good buildings carry good principles, but not (2/) #be904#be904_3#be904_3_3#S1W17
I believe that the art of asking relevant questions is to make discoveries to design better for the future and not just the current project. Which could be why he said to make discoveries and not objects of solutions. (1/) #be904#be904_3#be904_3_3#S1W17
before designing it in a way that the subcontractor can do their job with more ease and joy. This idea is probably, in my opinion, the best idea a architect could implement in their practice as it helps makes the world, especially the building industry, a better place. #be904
Me too. Creating something that can benefit many others is like a dream come true. The idea, product as process, is also a very good one. I may have understand it wrongly but it talks about how Kelvin Mark Low understand the different types of subcontractor's work (1/) #be904
Also through this lecture, Mark also inspired me to learn to think for others by utilising the space and taking into consideration the client needs to create something that is able to last gracefully in the future (7/)

absolutely no views at all because in fact, it will psychologically and mentally affect anyone's minds. unless you're a psychopath or not okay 💀 anyways, views are indeed an essential tool in architecture. even a prison cell have a view :) (/end )
