Hands-on science in the heart of Drum Manor. Our A Level Biologists put their sampling skills to the test and learned how forestry and ecology open doors to incredible careers, thanks to the brilliant Lynn and Liz from the Forestry Service #Think#Lead#Succeed @StPatsMaghera
Year 13 chemists turning up the heat 🔥🧪
Investigating the enthalpy change of combustion by measuring the energy released when alcohols are burned — from methanol to butanol.
Science = flames, energy and serious calculations. 📊✨@StPatsMaghera
Hands-on learning in action! 💡 Year 12 SA students categorising the live, neutral, and earth wires - their colour, connection, and purpose within a 3 pin plug using a thinking frame 🔌⚡ #PracticalScience#ClassroomCreativity@StPatsMaghera
Today at our Key Stage 3 lunchtime Science Club pupils discovered how white light is made of many colours! Using a glass prism, pupils observed the light slowing down and bending, with each colour refracting by a slightly different amount 💡 🌈 Super Work 🌟 @StPatsMaghera
Tea, cake, and smiles all around! ☕🍰 Miss Mulholland’s Single Award Science class enjoying a well-deserved treat after tackling their Chemistry GCSE exam yesterday. Great work everyone! 👏 🌟 @StPatsMaghera
Year 13 Physicists are focusing on lenses. By altering the distance between the object and lens they obtained sharp images on a screen. Students were able to see real, inverted images of different magnications. Measure values of u and v to find the focal length of lens.
Mini boards, mega minds!🚀🧠
10Sn pictured showing off their learning through a mini-whiteboard-interactive quiz 🤩 Well done to all producing fast answers and fierce thinking ⚡️ @StPatsMaghera
We finished with a ‘Time Out’ chocolate treat 🍫 — a sweet reminder that it’s okay to take time out to check in with ourselves and look after our mental health. 💛

🧪💛Science Meets Wellbeing💛🧪
On World Mental Health Day, our thoughtful Year 9 and 10 girls joined Miss Mulholland for a special Lunchtime Science Club, exploring how different materials burn — and what they can teach us about emotional wellbeing 🔥
✨ Magnesium ribbon: Burns brightly but quickly – like someone who’s overwhelmed and burns out fast.
🕯️ Candle wax:Burns slow and steadily, like someone who paces themselves.
🔥 Ethanol:Burns invisibly, like hidden emotions that aren’t always seen but still affect us.
From Tiny to Towering: Investigating the Secrets of Shadow Size 🔦👤 - 10Cs pictured investigating the relationship between distance of an objection from a light source and shadow size 🕵️♂️ @StPatsMaghera#ProjectingPhysics
AS Biology pupils were tasked to accurately identify structural features and functions of the cell membrane. Excellent progress being made through the effective use of thinking frames and retrieval practice questions 🧠 🌟
