Additionally, late Tuesday night, January 16, we declared a state of emergency in response to the devastating ice storm that has hit our community. Our emergency services team is working tirelessly to continue to assess the situation and help those in need.
On January 17, 2024, Governor Tina Kotek joined us and Lane County in declaring Lane County a disaster. With these declarations, through Lane County, we can ask for available state and federal assistance.
We have opened our Emergency Operations Center and are working closely with our Team Springfield Partners – @SUBUTIL, @SpringfieldPS, and @Willamalane. Also, working with other local agencies and state officials, to coordinate an effective response. We thank these dedicated individuals for their efforts in assisting our community.
SPS is opening two of its schools for students and their families to help provide relief following this ice storm emergency.
The centers will be open today, Thursday, from 4pm-7pm and Friday from 7am-7pm.

If ice or snow should accumulate, the City will prioritize hospital entrances, main arterial streets and intersections, and residential streets on hills and steep slopes. View our snow and ice priorities map at https://t.co/1SLS1NiQma.
