Unfortunately the mains entangled during landing causing it to land with 120 km/h. But fortunately the vehicle was designed for this and the black boxes survived.
The parachute in subsonic flight. From the first data we can see an initial deployment at Mach 2.5+ and about 20 sec of supersonic flight! Further analysis will be done soon!
During the flight SPEAR will do many measurements and capture some great video's of the parachutes in flight. This data is stored onboard in hardened "black boxes" such that the data is always safe. As an additional safety feature SPEAR will send the video down to earth.
T-1 week until the SPEAR launch campaign! From the 28th of October until the 9th of November six team members will travel to Esrange, Kiruna (Sweden) for the REXUS launch campaign. Excited to launch our experiment so soon! @REXUSBEXUS
