I’m not sure I’ll ever top 2025 when it comes to wildlife photography. That feeling is such a blessing and a curse at the same time but the unknown is what makes life worth living.
Beatrix painted this watercolor of her rabbit, Peter Piper, lounging by the fire in 1899.
In an 1895 letter to Noel Moore, the young son of her former governess, she wrote:
"My rabbit, Peter, is so lazy, he lies before the fire in a box, with a little rug. His claws grew too long, quite uncomfortable, so I tried to cut them with scissors but they were so hard that I had to use the big garden scissors. He sat quite still and allowed me to do his little front paws but when I cut the other hind foot claws he was tickled, & kicked, very naughty."
