Here’s the 3-step shift 🧵
Kampala’s 3-week blackout schedule dropped May 14 - June 2 😭

General #Muhoozi doesn’t write policy papers.
He writes deployment orders.
While we debate SADC “free movement” in lecture halls,
he’s securing the actual posts where policy meets reality.

You don’t need 10 years experience to start.
You need 1 story + the guts to post it.

Here’s the 3-step shift 🧵
Step 1: Stopped writing for professors
Started writing for the guy stuck at Beitbridge 6hrs.
Step 2: Used my own notes + SADC Protocol 2005

But if you’re in Southern Africa, you’re already living SADC integration daily.
This is the lab experiment happening at your border.

BRICS talks integration.
SADC lives integration daily.
Grain from SA.
Workers from Zim/Malawi/Mozambique.
Markets from all of us.
Policy should catch up to reality.

Job creation.
It’s slow, yet labour movement is fast.
If SADC made movement easier, skills would meet demand faster.
Win-win for both sending + receiving states.

Uganda hosts refugees from South Sudan + DRC.
Later many seek asylum in SA.

We always talk Uganda–SA through BRICS, AU, UN summits.
But the real relationship lives in quieter places:
Ugandan milk in SA supermarkets.
Ugandan security guards in Joburg.
Same challenges, different angles.
I had no idea South Africa depends on Ugandan milk until I read this.
In 2023, Uganda exported $200M in milk, tea, gold & tobacco to SA.
That’s not BRICS headlines. That’s a real SADC partnership. 🤸♀️🧵
