@NJ_Timothy Well said. Only racists think skin colour is an important factor in making appointments aka “diversity”. Anti-racists talk about merit, encouraging excellence and equality of opportunity for all (not outcome)
@Arron_banks You clearly haven’t been to a Party function since Kemi arrived. New management and a strong leader; we are reversing 30 years of organisational neglect.
@LauraTrottMP Dead right Laura! I campaigned for the Conservatives in May in a strong Labour Ward. She is cutting through very well. Lots of compliments from all sides and making people contemplate voting Conservative again. That trickle of returning voters will soon become a torrent.
@KirstieMAllsopp Agreed. But regrettably he is the construct of a political establishment that refuses to listen to voters and pursues its own agenda on the basis of “we know better”.
@PaulEmbery I agree 100%. As a decent trades unionist, don’t you think it would be good if we started to channel our disapproval into action? Maybe synchronised picket lines outside all their stores? I am sure they will LOVE the publicity. Happy to take part.
@BBCBreakfast So many people here are conflating the principle of assisted dying with the draft legislation. I support the former, but not the latter. It is a terrible Bill! Let’s do this properly in future without indecent haste
@DanielJHannan You are right, but sadly the Atlee Government sold that concept to people when it created the Welfare State. The fact that the so-called ‘contributions’ were spent at source has never been made clear by any politician for obvious reasons.
@KathyParr101 We have a debt of £3 Trillion. The interest on this is more than we spend on Defence. We are living way beyond our means; totally unsustainable. Scrapping the triple lock will be painless compared to the inevitable other choices that we are facing.
@iAmJoshHunt I was working for the Government when PFI first appeared around 1994 by the Major Government. Everyone, bar some in the Treasury, thought it was nuts and would end with Blair in 1997. Wrong, he and Brown put it on steroids.
@CamillaTominey@ukJ0N@ZiaYusufUK Accountability and transparency are essential building blocks of a thriving democracy. I expect any politician from any Party seeking high office to face searching and difficult questions. Keep up the good work @CamillaTominey
@BitesGirl59768@miriam_cates Non sequitur. That is all unaffordable too as is Not Zero etc Our National debt is nearly £3 Trillion. We pay more on debt interest than we spend on defence.
@bashersi@LanceForman@Nigel_Farage No I am sad that we are robbing future generations and driving our country to bankruptcy. Lots of people my age are happy to take the hit providing it isn’t frittered away on wasteful government expenditure.
@bashersi@LanceForman@Nigel_Farage When state pensions were first conceived by Lloyd George, life expectancy was 61 not 79. We are living a lie about pension affordability. There is no such thing as a NI pension pot, its taxation. As a pensioner myself, I am happy for the triple lock to be scrapped as a starter.
