Asking for proof? Here you go.
Pepe was seen strolling through the park with $SPUDS by his side. Not a joke, not a larp -- $Spuds is the real canine companion of the meme king himself. The legacy is now locked in.
Spuds MacKenzie ("The Original Party Animal"[1]) is a fictional bull terrier dog character used for an extensive advertising campaign marketing Bud Light beer in the late 1980s.
After extensive research it appears the name zeus for pepe's dog seems to have arisen out of thin air, with no concrete evidence of the name from matt furie's comics or from matt directly.
However, given matt furie's own use of the the famous bull terrier Spud's gif under his own drawing of a green dog sharing a striking resemblance, it appears Spuds would be the most appropriate name for pepe's dog.
