Jimmy's real time-machine answer is Chuck

Twice in the finale the question turns back on him. He tells Mike he'd go to 1965 and buy into Berkshire Hathaway. He tells Walt about a slip-and-fall that wrecked his knee at 22. Money and a bad landing. Mike doesn't buy it for a second. There's really nothing you'd change?

He walks into that courtroom already planning to blow up his own deal. He'd heard Kim confessed, and he made sure she was there to watch. So he lays out the truth about Heisenberg, looks back at her, and sees it isn't enough. So he goes further. Past Walt, past Howard, all the way down to his brother. He could have tried harder with Chuck. Chuck killed himself, and Jimmy has lived with his part in it ever since.
Voice breaking, he tells the judge his name is James McGill. First time in years

The last flashback doesn't argue any of this. Chuck tells him there's no shame in going back and changing your path, Jimmy bristles, and the camera settles on the book in Chuck's hands. The Time Machine

That copy turns up all through the final season. It's in Saul's mansion when the feds clear it out. It's on his nightstand at Kim's. He kept his dead brother's book and carried it for years without ever saying why

The two answers Jimmy gives are alibis. The one he can't say is the whole show
