When we launched our first cafe on Pinehurst Ave on Sept 15, 2012, Obama was president, Instagram had started trending and our younger daughter Muna was not yet born.
To those of you who’ve been with us from the beginning and the ones who found us along the way–thank you for making us a part of your everyday. And for becoming a part of ours.
We've been honored to be a part of your life events, and daily life.
What is hard to enumerate is the infinite support of our community through it all.
During the last 10 years we have brewed hundreds of thousands of cups of coffee, hosted community events, provided space for local artists, we've served food and coffee to frontline workers, and happily welcomed thousands of Buunni regulars.
As June comes to a close, we have reached the end of a very thought provoking exhibit “BEING THERE,” a multidisciplinary project about homelessness and the unhoused population, created by those who have experienced homelessness themselves.
The history of Pride is one of struggle, of fighting for dignity and the right to live and love freely. Queer and trans people of color have always been part of this history and continue to face barriers to basic survival.
