Pizza Haus had the pleasure of hosting South Ripley High School cross country team, led by coach Jim Cole, this evening. The South Ripley community should be proud of the way these ladies and gentlemen represent their school. Classy people all the way around. Thank you!!
SRXC enjoyed some great pizza at the @pizzahaus after the Ripley County Meet last night. Thank you @kirk_yorn for your great service and food as always!
@steven_montoya Sadly it happens too frequently - the reasons (excuses) vary and then the parents wonder why their kid isn't running as well as they (parents) want them to run.
If you want to succeed in high school cross, remember these three things:
• You've got to keep your easy days easy
• Sleep is a secret ingredient to your success
• You've got to save your best efforts for race day
#consistencyiskey, and these lead to consistency in training.
Here’s a phrase I love to use with athletes:
"If you want to do things you’ve never done before, you’ve got to do things you’ve never done before."
Coaches: This is the time of year to use this phrase.
...this may or may not mean more miles - could be "the little things"...
Cross Country is a great metaphor for life.
From the outside, it looks like an individual sport. A bunch of people running their own race.
But in reality, it's a team sport. The sooner we embrace the team aspect, the better we perform, and the more joy and connection we create.
We all know that kid who doesn't run all summer, shows up to XC season out of shape, and misses out on the whole racing season just getting in shape.
Don't be that kid!
Start now!
In preparation for Cross-Country do your best to RUN everyday. When trying to decide which day to do hills or strides or spend time in the weight room it is not nearly as important as it is to just RUN. When going on family vacation do your best to take your legs with you.
AMAZING PERFORMANCE by Emily & Alexa!! Emily set a new school record and finished 1st. Alexa ran a new PR and finished 3rd. They are advancing to the Regional next week at Franklin Community. We are so proud of you both! @orvcsports@SRipleySports@SR_Raiders
