Why confirm mucosal healing in #celiac?
Pros:
-Association b/t persistent villus atrophy & lymphoma
-No accurate non-invasive marker for mucosal healing
Cons
-No clear association w/ mortality
-Observational studies prone to selection bias
- Will result change management?
Guidelines continue to recommend biopsy confirmation for #celiac diagnosis but acknowledge option of a very ⬆️ high level TTG-IGA with positive EMA in a second blood sample for diagnosis of #celiacdisease in children and in certain adults
