PBS: What do you want people who haven’t been affected by LC to know about this community?
@meighanstone: Americans may feel like the pandemic is over.. but even in just last few months we saw the announcement that #LongCovid is now the most common childhood illness in the US
Covid-19 infections can reactivate dormant cancer cells, & trigger the growth of secondary cancers. There is now compelling medical evidence to this effect.

On COVID-consciousness and fear:
You do not hold with tenacity that which the world has abandoned, in the face of ridicule and ostracism, alone, for six years, out of reactivity. And if that's how you're imagining us - as reactive, fear-serving, helpless victims of our own out-of-control minds, you simply don't know us. The COVID-conscious lifestyle is one hundred percent intentional on the part of every COVID-conscious person I know. We face our shit. We know exactly why we do what we do. You don't sustain this kind of commitment if you're crumbling in obeisance to fear. We're the kinds of people who opt out of religious traditions, family traditions, societal traditions. We skip holidays and songs and rituals others never dared to question. We don't just question what everyone else is doing and why they're doing it, we actually choose to say, "No, I'm not doing that anymore. I decided because..." and fill in the blanks with what informed our decision. We are people who exercise agency that others don't even know they could have. We face fears most others couldn't fathom facing, every time we venture into a world that hates us for reminding them of what they are trying so hard to forget: that we CAN make a difference. We CAN have better lives and a better world. We CAN be free of so much suffering that we've simply tolerated without question for centuries because we knew no other way. We, the COVID-conscious see other ways. And what frightens people about this is that it means taking responsibility for your part, standing out from the crowd and doing what you know is the answer to that betterment of things. It means mustering up the boldness to step out of line with "the way we've always done things," FOLLOWING those other ways that you see, even as skeptical and shallow-minded onlookers taunt and jeer at you because they simply can't see what you've looked at so wholeheartedly. That is courage, man. Courage like I've never seen before, anywhere. And the rest of y'all, take note. Because we're just getting started. 🔥🧂🌎🌱💪😷
@CovidSolidarit1 Yep. Coworker was shocked when tested positive. She “forgot that was a thing”.
It’s all 2019 out there…..except they are confused as to why their youngish friends are getting so sick or suddenly passing…….🤷🏻♀️
I will be masking until there is a sterilizing COVID vaccine, because I don’t consent to having my brain damaged even further and I don’t care if it makes other people feel uncomfortable.
“I don’t consider myself COVID cautious. I consider myself COVID competent,” Zebrowski said. “Cautious would imply that I have an unreasonable fear of something. I do not have an unreasonable fear of this disease.”
Nailed it 🔥

it feels awkward because taking care of your health in a logical way during an ongoing airborne pandemic has been propagandized and politicized to the point that it’s become social faux pas to not exist in denial. all in the service of capitalism and eugenics. hope this helps!
Ok year 6 f the pandemic, can we have Covid safe days at doctors & dentists & dmv etc now? It can be 3 hours in the morning, but come on, man… make an effort to make it safe for those who want to preserve their brain & body… every reinfections brings you closer to Long Covid
We were told that if Covid was a “serious threat” there would be a rise in sudden deaths, excess deaths and other diseases.
We’re seeing tuberculosis, pneumonia, RSV and all kinds of other bugs in rates far higher than normal. Deaths are up.
Can we talk about it yet?
The officials say
that the patient in Louisiana
who died of H5N1 bird flu
“was older than 65
and had
underlying medical conditions,”
and while these comments
are clearly meant
to assuage public fears,
that officials are already
minimizing this death
is really rather frightening.
Health officials downplayed COVID risk by overemphasizing "underlying health conditions," leading many to drop their guard.
Most people have "underlying health conditions." Anyone can be vulnerable. Everyone should take precautions.
They are minimizing bird flu in the same way.
Before they can tell you
that the pandemic
is over,
preempt them by saying
that you keep hearing
that the pandemic
has not ended,
and when they ask you
who it is that says that
tell them they are correct
last week multiple doctors
from the WHO said that.
