I had the great honor of being a guest on the Twisted Teachers podcast recently. I told my story of why I had to leave education unexpectedly, and it’s very fitting that I got to have this therapeutic experience during Pride month. Listen here! https://t.co/0i1sMcCv7j
@marielachidalgo@GlennonDoyle So you love the ideas of Glennon, a proud feminist who speaks about female empowerment and truth, AND Andrew Tate, who is a self-identified misogynist who radicalizes men and boys into believing women are property who exist only to serve them? Make it make sense.
@_TallieRose Anthem specifically. They pulled this shit with my wife for our most recent IVF treatment. We’d already done IVF, just needed an embryo transfer- denied. Switched to UHC this year and they approved it with no questions asked. Anthem is the worst.
@AnthonyBass52@united My 19 month old son can pick up his messes with direction. Both you and your children are perfectly capable of picking up that popcorn, and it is 100% not that flight attendant’s job to do so. I hope @united bans you for such disrespect.
@VictoriaTheTech I think it just baffles me too because it never crossed my mind to ask a stranger for help on my career change. I’m not saying that’s a good or bad thing, it’s just not how I think or operate so it’s still a bit off-putting to me. Most mean well, but many have the “job plz” vibe
@VictoriaTheTech …very plainly that I am NOT a career coach and do not offer those types of services, I don’t feel super bad about not responding to you.
@VictoriaTheTech Not to mention that I’ve posted several times about how I post all of my advice to my entire LinkedIn audience, and there are very few situations where more personalized advice would be required. If you haven’t taken the time to look at my featured posts where I lay out…
@VictoriaTheTech I’ve had to stop responding to those types of messages. There’s a sort of salty part of me that reads messages like that and thinks “if I figured it out on my own, you can too”, but I don’t want to be nasty about it. But yes, I’m tired of the requests for free handouts and time.
@VictoriaTheTech Almost everyday on LinkedIn I get requests from people wanting to know how to get out of the classroom and into instructional design. Usually several a day. And they all want to have virtual coffee. I know people mean well but I seriously don’t have time…
@ChuckCallesto I am not in any way excusing this incident, but some much-needed context is that this student has special needs and allegedly may have poor emotional regulation or impulse control. He must be held accountable but this risk is sadly so common for so many SpEd professionals
@DavidG_CSLP @heymrsbond @tcareercoach Daphne’s course is fantastic. Due to my own circumstances of having to leave teaching suddenly (LGBT discrimination from top level leadership and me deciding life is too short for that), I was not able to use her course before I procured a new job but I have friends who have.
@DavidG_CSLP @heymrsbond She’s also in ID. I work in substance use treatment, and she does ID for a K-12 edtech company. Both fully remote. We love it!
@DavidG_CSLP @heymrsbond Same exact story. Both my wife and I have left education. We make more money, work from home, have flexibility, and are infinitely less stressed. Wouldn’t change anything about it.
@grantharon Ribs broken are the best case scenario in a situation like this. These players, his mother, and the whole world just watched a man’s life suddenly hanging in the balance before them- that’s a whole different level of trauma.
