Ever seen what happens when a fuel tank gets way too pressurized? This old C-141 Starlifter had its entire wing bend and collapse like cheap cardboard during ground refueling... all because a vent plug was accidentally left in after a leak repair.
No fire, no explosion, just insane pressure that wrecked the structure and spilled thousands of gallons of jet fuel.
The Starlifter’s wings double as giant fuel tanks, so venting is everything. Maintenance error turned a routine stop into a write-off.

Greg was very quiet but had a big heart, and he and his brother were best friends, their father said. He also loved riding his motorcycle. “My image of Greg was when he would jump on his bike in the middle of the night,” his father said. “He was always proud of his bike even though it bothered mom that he had bought and then upgraded it to be more powerful. I think he felt most free on his motorcycle.”

A native of Spokane, Washington, Sergeant Andrew Southern died on November 10, 2023 when his MH-60M Black Hawk helicopter crashed in the Mediterranean Sea.

Sergeant Southard was serving as an MH-60M Direct Action Penetrator Crew Chief at the time of his death.
