Our article on ontological security, civil war, and narrative is out at @CoCo_journal .
Prof. @aysebetulcelik and me argue that groups seek TRUTH to maintain their ontological security by narrating themselves thickly.

Historical Social Science
These books provide two accounts of how to do historical social science. Kreuzer is more qualitative in orientation, Wawro & Katznelson are more quantitative
Yet they both press us to think more rigorously about how to combine history & social science
🥳Excited to share our latest article in Turkish Studies:

Happily, our article, Meltem Müftüler-Baç and I, is now out in International Migration (@IntMig_Journal).
Towards a Functional Place: The article argues that "cities emigrate, not individuals." We build on this metaphore to delve into refugee paradoxes.
https://t.co/RNFCW38wQX
This paradigm reframes refugees as responsibility bearers and shifts the main policy towards improving the place of origin instead of - fundamentally - providing *protection* for refugees. Future research will propose a practical translation for the Functional Place.
What does that mean? Instead of imagining - while drafting solutions and policies - an individual emigrating, imagine a city/town/neighborhood emigrating. What will happen? This speculative conceptualization leads us to a different paradigm.
