Dear Bishops, If you would remember the call of the Apostle, be transfigured to the crucified Christ, be hated by the world for Christ's sake, be considered the least, all for leading souls into that same participation, the faithful would follow you unto martyrdom and death.
How could Bishop Deshotel act so uncharitably towards the Peytons by declaring excommunication while Fr. Guidry remains in the Church? If Bishop Deshotel mourns Scott’s leaving, why didn't he act like the Good Shepherd and leave the 99 to find the one?

St. Thomas More High School ignored red flags when hiring Jacob De La Paz, a former seminarian. The Diocese suggests that "Safe Environment" is a standard when hiring, but the effectiveness is once again called into question. https://t.co/DYVNoytce3
If these allegations against Abp. Gregory Aymond are proven to be true, this is a significant blow to the credibility of the Church, not only in New Orleans, but in all Louisiana dioceses which often look to the archdiocese for leadership.

The new Louisiana law which eliminates prescription for cases of childhood sexual abuse seems like a straight-forward legal declaration. Is the Diocese fighting it in order to avoid the moral responsibility they have to take care of victims? Read here:

Prudential measures against the Covid-19 virus are called into question when a child-abusing priest is released from prison while upstanding pastors are threatened with imprisonment for holding church services. Does this juxtaposition make sense?

The SSPD was launched on September 17, 2018. One year out, we take a moment to make clarifications and otherwise review the progress we’ve made over the past year.

Fr. Guidry has not been laicized and remains canonically entitled to Church benefits. In light of Bishop Deshotel's recent warning to seminarians about the SSPD, are we to assume that sexual abuse of minors is less of an impediment to Holy Orders than is associating with SSPD?
The SSPD was present in the St. Landry Parish Courthouse today to hear the Honorable Judge Harris uphold his original 10 year sentence for Fr. Michael Guidry's sexual abuse of a minor.
We observed one deacon present today to support the family of Deacon Scott Peyton, but we wonder why a majority of the Permanent Diaconate has remained silent regarding this case? Why has Deacon Jim Kincel, Director of Deacons, not offered a public word of support for the family?
The bishop's letters to Lafayette seminarians seem to violate Canon 51 of the Code of Canon Law. Is the chancery ignorant of this law, or simply disregarding it? Can we really trust them to police themselves?
One week after CM's report on Society of St. Peter Damian & its work exposing Bp. Deshotel, the bishop told seminarians he'll kick them out of seminary and won't ordain them if they're associated with the whistleblower group.
Such accompaniment!

Why is it that when a priest breaks Safe Environment Protocols as in the eyewitness accounts of the behavior of Fr. Mikel Polson, the bishop quietly offers correction without changing the situation, but if a seminarian follows a Facebook page, his vocation is threatened?
Seminarians studying for the Diocese of Lafayette have received this notice from Bishop Douglas Deshotel forbidding them to have any association with the SSPD. Numerous priests have likewise been told to disassociate with the SSPD and to not follow us on social media.
If seminarians are being warned not to associate with SSPD under pain of losing their vocation, have priests and seminarians likewise received similar warnings not to associate with sex abusing priests?
